XFCE keyboard set

These last days I've been testing the XFCE desktop environment, it is lighter and I recognized that have greatly improved since the previous verson its latest version launched on April 19 Xfce 4.6 Released .1. It is a bit different to GNOME, but is very simple and intuitive, but more attractive is the speed.

One of the problems I had from the beginning was the key configuration asia ... after 2 days and after some research I have come to the solution to the problem. My keyboard is Latin American but was set Xfce gringo. Well, fix the problem easily using a fairly simple command: Setxkbmap

This command, if they see their own documentation Xfce (which was where I found it) indicates that you must go through the distribution argument on your keyboard in the form of two letters. Well, I tried many combinations like, lt, lm, ln, things like that, but none worked and I left the strange keyboard configurations.

Well, I decided to try his luck and pass it by argument the word "asia" as an argument and it worked. My keyboard now works perfectly. That is, if you want to configure Xfce to Latin American keyboard, run this command:

setxkbmap latam

However, when you restart you will notice that there is a problem: The keyboard is misconfigured. How do I fix it? However, this solution is that I present is not the most appropriate, but it works well and is the one I'm using. Follow these simple steps: 1 .-

Create an empty text file they want. Put it the name "teclado.sh" or whatever, but do not forget the. Sh.

2 .- open it in your favorite editor (if you're doing in Xfce, try the mousepad is not as bad) and add this text in the file:

# / bin / bash

setxkbmap latam

Y save the file. 3 .- Change it

the total permits (if they use command, 777, if they use the contextual menu to "read and write permission" in the three fields).

4 .- Xfce menu in the options above, there is a submenu that should give them access to desktop settings dialogs, screen saver, theme, etc. There are (or should) have an option to set up programs that start with Xfce. Open that option, and should see a small list of programs that start with the desktop. Den click on "Add" and they should appear another small window (even smaller), and have three fields for entering, one is the name that will have the new program that starts with the desktop, the other a description and a third one command.

Use the name and command. As a name can put anything, such as "Script to configure the keyboard" or whatever. Just to remember what he was doing. At the command prompt type this:

sh / e / to / script / creado.sh

going to put the word "sh", followed by a space, then the address where the file you just created, including the file name. Dan OK to add it and then "Close" to close the dialog programs that start with the desktop.

If you want to really realize that it is running or not, can add this line to the bottom:

zenity - info - text "keyboard configured" Being

file like this:

#! / bin / bash

setxkbmap latam

zenity - info - text "keyboard configured"

Thus, when the keyboard is ready should see a simple dialog that displays the message "Keyboard set." Should be noted that zenity is a program, so in order to use this line must have the program installed zenity, but not work and did not show any message. I hope I

helped someone with this message.

XD Until next
